Bulgarian Culture is some what interesting as I looked up the history pre war to date and it is fairly checkered to say the least.
Bulgaria was never annexed by the soviet union (USSR) but was a close ally through the war and it started to have uprisings in the 1970s following the allowance of the western influence which was halted in 1953.
The hopping came into place from the later 1970s though to after the fall of the wall in 1989 for the most part of Bulgaria was more a communist state and socialist state and many of the traits still exist today.
After the wall fell, there was 55% of the people saying it was a bad thing, and later years (2010) the poles have changed.
Its not hard to see why the fall was a bad thing, as you travel around Bulgaria you will notice that there are a lot of big empty buildings, these are the government buildings, where ” a job for everyone” ended when the wall fell.
Around 70% of produce went to the Soviet state which of course caused a down fall. and abundance caused the prices to drop. The “wealth” of the people sored by around 868%.
There appears to be interesting territory disputes over the years were Bulgaria had to rescind its boarders, the north including parts of Dobrich, and along what is now the beach fronts of Romania. There are also parts of Macedonia and Serbia, though they seem un connected.
By 2001 Bulgaria had seen around 1/3 of its population leave, which explains the decoration of the houses which are still in the era of the late 1980s and 1990s but other records show a decrease of 15% of the labor force leaving from 2001 to 2025
The governments are none for backward working and some great forward thinking. however they have in part been apposed. for example the water issue is partly political, and has been an issue since 2014. one source told me that funds had been gained, squandered and it is hard to ask for the money again. The EU is aware of the “funding issues” but where the money goes is more in contention.

The Cultural survival.
As many of you should be aware the human race is dying.
per 1000 people in Bulgaria the birth rate is 8.8 (avg)
The death rate is 18.4, as you can see the decline is pretty obvious.
To compare England (UK) is 10 births and 9.1 deaths. The uk 7.9 suicides per 100,000 people, and Bulgaria 9.7 suicides per 100,000 people,
Health care per capita
THE UK:
The latest value from 2022 is 5138.64 U.S. dollars, a decline from 5738.48 U.S. dollars in 2021. In comparison, the world average is 4461.35 U.S. dollars, based on data from 20 countries.

You have to remember Bulgaria medical prices are not Capitalistic.
Dental care is around 70% less.
In Bulgaria, while emergency care is free, most other medical services have fees, with a visit to a GP costing around 2.90 Bulgarian leva and hospital stays having a minimum daily charge of 5.80 leva for the first 10 days.
Without seeing first hand I have heard that the hospitals can lack certain things, however Buglaria is one of the larger and most popular world Doctor training countries.
In Bulgaria, becoming a doctor involves a 6-year undergraduate medical program leading to a Master’s degree and the “Physician” qualification, followed by postgraduate specialization (residency) for 4-6 years. Medical education is structured into preclinical, clinical, and internship stages, with many programs taught in English.
The Medical Universities of Sofia, Plovdiv and Stara Zagora (Trakia) are considered the best in the country. But due to the high overall level of education, most medical universities are considered very prestigious.
